Water Meter Replacement Project

The City of Stacy is upgrading all water meters. The new metering system will provide real time information for water use improving your ability to use water wisely. The new system will transmit readings multiple times each day and transmit error codes that will help to identify leaks or other problems to increase customer service.

There is no cost for the replacement, but you are required to have your meter replaced.  Failure to schedule to have your meter replaced may be subject to fines and/or shut off pursuant to city code §51.22.

To install the new water meter:

  • Receive letter with instructions to schedule your meter replacement appointment with Midwest Testing.
  • Call, visit website, or scan QR code to schedule your appointment.
  • Midwest Testing will need to access the meter inside your home or business. The area around the water meter should be clear and accessible.
  • Property owners must provide a fully operable shut off valve on the service line before the meter. If there is no valve, or a failing valve, it is the property owner's responsibility to replace or repair the valve using a licensed plumber of their choice.
  • An adult 18 years or older must be present at the time of installation.

 Scheduling Process:

City water/sewer account holders will receive up to 3 notices requesting that you make a meter replacement appointment. Replacement must be completed by June 20th, 2024 to avoid fines or shut off. To schedule your appointment, you will need the unique key number listed on the notice under the QR code in red. If you have more than one meter, you will receive a notice for each meter, and you will need to schedule separate appointments for each meter to be replaced.
